We meticulously check every vet's name, address, Vet ID, degree, identification documents (drivers licence) and their photograph against the relevant vet board authority.

Pawssum always provides our customers with an itemised invoice which can be submitted to your insurance provider for claims. Please inquire with your insurance to determine whether at-home vet visits are in your level of cover.

Our hours of operation are 7:00am to 11:00pm, 7 days a week including weekends and public holidays.

We will respond extremely quickly to any inquiry.

During the booking you will be able to provide your preferred day and timeslot. We will then try to find an available vet to suit you. We will always try and get to you when you need us (even if it is the same day). Sometimes for urgent cases it might be difficult to find a vet, so it is better to give us as much notice as possible.

Please tell us ahead of time if your pet is aggressive, as we need to know this. Our vet will ensure everyone's safety, including their own, yours and your pet's. They will take appropriate measures to handle the situation professionally and safely. This may involve using specialised handling techniques, employing muzzles or restraints, or temporarily sedating the pet if necessary. The vet's primary concern is to ensure the well-being of all parties involved while still providing necessary care.

A familiar environment is so much better for an end-of-life experience, where your beloved pet is comfortable in their own home surrounded by the people (and other pets) who love them. You can set the day and time when to say goodbye, and do things like light candles and play soft music during the euthanasia. You and your family can grieve in privacy and comfort.

Our euthanasia services start from $399. We take Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit/debit cards as well as Vet Pay and Zip Pay.

Euthanasia enables your vet to cause a painless death, or to stop providing life-support measures, to your pet. It can be done only by a certified veterinarian, after taking all measures to try to help your dog, and only with your consent.

Signs will include not having an appetite, not being able to walk, yelps due to pain, medications not working, your pet giving up, your pet avoiding its bed, and general suffering. It is recommended not to give your dog any food or water two hours before the procedure. Ask the vet any questions you have, so that there are no surprises, including how to make it as compassionate as possible. Decide on whether you and your family want to be present and make sure everybody knows what will happen. It is very important to celebrate your pet's last days - whether it’s a trip to its favourite park or one last photo, surround it with love, care and joy one last time. Everybody will be grieving, so be prepared for that time and put in place a support mechanism for this.

The decision about leaving or staying is deeply personal, and whatever you decide it should come from a place of love and compassion you have for your pet. Choosing to stay will give you a sense of comfort, closure and acceptance, and a healthy ground for the grieving process. It's important to avoid feeling regret. However, some owners prefer to say goodbye before the euthanasia and that's also ok. In terms of children, you need to carefully consider if they are old enough to comprehend the concept of euthanasia, and whether they want to witness it.

Euthanasia may appear uncomfortable to the pet owner. However, it will not be painful for your pet. A combination of drugs used during euthanasia ensure that within seconds, awareness is gone and the animal falls into a state of unconsciousness. During the next couple of minutes after the drugs are given there may be nerve and muscle twitching, vocalizations, urination, defecation, and open eyelids - these might be scary to see but your pet will be unconscious and unaware of all of these actions. They will not feel any pain.

Bookings can be cancelled until 24 hours before the appointment time. If cancelled after that time, we reserve the right to charge a fee due to potential loss of revenue resulting from the fact that our vet could not attend other bookings.
